Course details

Blood Academy October 14, 2020

In this course, we will teach you all you need to know about blood cell morphology. We will navigate through all the main morphological features of immature and mature blood cells. There will also be a focus on the role of these vital cells in the normal state and give you the skills to correlate morphological characteristics with clinical features. Finally and building on the tools provided, we will guide how the morphological features can be used in formulating a range of diagnoses.

Although we will look at the immature cells usually found only in the bone marrow and some details of important supplementary investigations like flow cytometry, the course will focus on blood microscopy.

The course will provide you with focused self-assessments to test your application of the information provided in the lessons. A final course assessment tests your application of all aspects of blood microscopy using intuitive and interactive digital slides.

If you are training to, or currently report blood films as part of your job, this course is a must. Our aim is to establish and solidify your confidence and provide evidence for competence in blood film reporting.

Further details on some practical aspects of the course can be found in the explanation video below.
